I’ve crossed the half way point and had my 20-week anatomy scan appointment. This is the appointment where a thorough ultrasound is done to measure the baby or babies! At 20 weeks my symptoms fall in line with traditional symptoms – some heartburn and indigestion, mild cramping, a growing belly that can become itchy, sore feet and back, and many others. I’m so thankful that the nausea has subsided and I have more energy throughout the day.
Our anatomy scan went great even though it was 2 hours long! The babies are positioned transverse and were kicking each other in the face over and over. Baby A is the boy – he has more energy and is always moving and Baby B, the girl, is more chill 🙌🏻 We did get news that Baby A has marginal cord insertion, so it will be something to monitor at appointments. Overall, our doctor did not have any concerns, so that was great news!
We’ve started ordering some furniture (shipping delays ughh) and were shocked when two cribs arrived at our door two months early! We’re keeping the nursery gender neutral. There will be natural wood, black and white, plus dark green accents. My favorite piece I’ve ordered is the dresser – its beautiful, but will be back ordered until February! We also have the twin Halo bassinet set up in our room. It looks awesome, but definitely takes up way more space than the single bassinet. I think we’ve decided that we will continue to use the Uppababy Vista stroller for the twins. We have two Uppababy Mesa car seats, so it makes the most sense. Plus, Everly will love riding on the piggyback board. Here are some of our twin necessities that we’ve already purchased:
I’m still craving bagels and fruit and eating smaller more frequent meals to get in the extra calories. If there’s a recipe that looks good to me – I’m making it haha! I’ve tried new soups, pasta dishes and chicken pot pies recently. At this point I’ve gained 13.5 lbs and my belly makes a great shelf for my snacks or for our cats to curl up and snuggle.
I’ve started feeling the babies moving occasionally- mostly while I’m walking E to school or doing chores around the house. It’s such a wild feeling knowing there are two babies in there. I don’t think I’ve ever fully grasp that! My next appt will be in early November at 24 weeks for another ultrasound and hopefully some good pics of their sweet faces!

Jacci
