Five years ago if you told me I was going to go on a trip with people I met on the internet, I would have laughed in your face. It’s crazy to think that a social media platform brought us all together to experience Newburyport, MA. The weekend was jam packed, so a blog post round up is necessary!
First things first – I have to give a huge shout out to the Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and Busy Creative for hosting the weekend and coordinating every detail. It was such an awesome weekend and I have to share all of the plans. There were so many great “sponsors” and we were spoiled rotten with gifts – more to share on that soon!
Thursday
We were hosted by Sandy Cheek Homes on Plum Island between three rental homes. We had a beautiful welcome event set up at the “main house”. The house was amazing – on the ocean and gorgeous views of the dunes and waves. The decor was done by Seacoast Picnic. If you’re looking for an “instagram-worthy” picnic set up they are the best! This event kicked off with speciality cocktails curated by Bubble Bar Boston. The owner is just the sweetest woman! They are available for hire at private events and will bring everything needed for the evening! Other vendors for our welcome event were Cafe Sarina, Buttermilk Baking Co, Meant to Brie Boards. We also met Olivia who is the founder of Runway for Recovery. We were set to attend their annual event the following night, so she came over to say hello and thank us for coming! After the event we all hung out on the couch and chatted for hours!
Friday
Friday morning we joined Jessie Reardon for a class at Fuel Training Studio in NBPT. It was a barre fusion class that is great for all levels. The studio was awesome and I really appreciated that I wasn’t too sweaty after the class. It was the perfect mix of yoga, stretching and barre.
After a quick shower we joined the rest of the ladies at Interlocks and Haven Living Co. For the next several hours we were pampered with blow outs, lunch from Metzy’s Cantina and a fun activity. Sailormade set up a decoupage shell activity and the owner of Noted Candles gifted us their new seasonal candle. We all shopped around Haven Living Co. It was the cutest store with so many great holiday gift ideas!
As soon as our hair was perfectly styled we went back to the cottage to finish makeup and getting ready for the Runway for Recovery Event in Boston.
Runway for Recovery is a nonprofit that supports families of caregivers diagnosed with breast cancer. Often times family members can be left with the burden of picking up the responsibilities of their sick loved ones. Runway for Recovery directly helps families by paying for groceries, flights, etc during and after cancer treatments.
The Runway event is the main source of fundraising for the year. There were lots of great vendors attending including Sh*t that I Knit, Erin McDermott, Lilibridge and more. We did a little shopping and mingling before the runway event began. It was very emotional listening to the testimonials of family members. There wasn’t a dry eye in the banquet hall. Runway for Recovery raised over $350,000. I feel so honored to be in attendance and will definitely be going again next year for the 17th annual event!
Saturday
Saturday’s itinerary was equally as busy! We were up bright and early for a leisurely bike tour of Plum Island thanks to Great Freedom Adventures. It was such a gorgeous morning for a ride. We really lucked out with the weather and learned so much about Plum Island.
The NBPT Chamber of Commerce was hosting Octoberfest downtown on this day as well! We were able to shop around at a lot of the local vendors, listen to live music and get a taste for living in Newburyport. After an awesome morning we were hosted by Rise+Shine Marketplace at Sea Level NBPT for lunch.
The rest of the afternoon was laid back – some of the ladies went to the Tannery for more shopping, but we headed to the Sunset Club for frozen espresso martinis. The weather was gorgeous and this was a cute outdoor bar/restaurant near our cottage we had been dying to check out. After a few frozen cocktails we went back to get ready for our shopping event at Charleston + Coco and VirtuE Jewelers Atelier. They had a gorgeous spread of snacks and plenty of 90+ Cellars Prosecco.
We met the owner of VirtuE, Erdem. He was fabulous and cleaned all of the ladies wedding bands and engagement rings while we shopped. They have so much gorgeous jewelry for sale, but his speciality is custom pieces. You can use promo code V10 for 10% off non-custom pieces. I grabbed an adorable pair of everyday gold hoops! I’ve worn them everyday since our trip!
Adjacent to VirtuE is Charleston & Coco – a women’s clothing store! They had so many adorable pieces for sale! Definitely my kind of store. We tried on faux leather leggings, cozy sweaters, fall jackets and hats. I grabbed a new rancher hat, brown coated denim, and a super cute sweater. They have a great online shop too – use code Welcome15 for 15% off your order!
With lots of bags in hand we headed out to dinner close by at Bar25. This is a newer spot featuring Mediterranean dishes. The restaurant has outdoor seating and several levels of indoor dining. We sat upstairs on cool couches in a room with a bar. It was great for our group. The Busy Collective team set up even more gifts for us – a necklace from Erin McDermott, a clutch from Valbarra, and Busy Bostonian Hats! The ambience, food and cocktails were fabulous. I loved the Magic Mushrooms and Fried Artichokes. It’s definitely a spot I would love to go back to!
After dinner we had espresso martinis and headed back to the cottage to wind down/pack our bags. We all headed back to our homes early Sunday morning! But not before a quick stop at the Plum Island airport for a photo!
