Hello! I’ve been using the same skincare products for a few months and thought I would share what’s working for my skin type. My skin is mostly dry but prone to breakouts in certain areas – most of the time the breakouts are hormonal or due to stress. I wear makeup daily, so it’s important that I remove all of my makeup before bedtime and properly cleanse, treat, and protect my skin.
Tbh, perfect skin takes a lot of work. A customized regimen is the best way to address any issues and combat breakouts, dryness, and premature aging. Besides skincare it’s important to use SPF daily or stay out of the sun. I’m not a fan of hats, but people that wear them in the sun usually have the best skin!
I get lots of messages from people on the edge… they have tried everything and their skin is not reacting well to products. This could be from fragrance, retinol, parabens or other toxic ingredients.
Lastly, prevention is easier than trying to fix issues in the future! Having a skincare regimen can actually save you money. If you properly address your skin’s issues you can avoid acne scars, deep wrinkles, skin discoloration and other issues that you’ll need to go to the dermatologist for.
I wash my face EVERY night before bed. Your skin collects all kinds of dirt and bacteria all day – the last thing you want to do is put it on your pillow and sleep with it!
1. Cleanse
Step one is probably my favorite – take it all off! I use the Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil. Not sure why this product needs a name with five words, but it’s heaven in a bottle. You apply one pump to your hands and rub on your DRY face. I rub into my eyes hoping to remove most of my eye makeup too. Then you add water to create a milk. I like to rub it off with a gentle wash cloth as well. This cleanser is a part of the Countertime Collection – great for dry skin and preventing fine lines!
2. Double Cleanse
Ok, this might sound strange to some people, but I actually wash my face twice. It’s not for everyone, but because I am prone to breakouts I need to remove extra oils. I use either the Countercontrol Clear Pore Cleanser ($26 for a big bottle!) or the Charcoal Cleansing Bar. Both are great for pre-teens, teens or anyone with breakouts!
3. Prep
Time to tone! I like the Countertime Essence – what’s an essence you ask? It’s a highly concentrated toner applied to dry skin to prep the skin to absorb all of the next steps! Essences go directly on the skin – don’t use a cotton ball for this one. This perfectly preps your skin to absorb the highly concentrated products in the next steps!
If you have acne prone skin – definitely look into the Countercontrol Toner. It’s applied to a cotton ball then gently swept over any breakout areas – packed with salicylic acid!
4. Treat
Ok, now it’s time for the most concentrated products to go to work. What is your MAIN goal in a skincare routine? Make this the most important step of your regimen. I use the Countertime Tripeptide Serum, but 3 times a week I use the Overnight Resurfacing Peel instead. They both have amazing results. The Countertime Serum is great for fine lines thanks to the leading ingredient, Bakuchiol. When you hear the word peel you might be a little scared, but I can assure you that your face will not peel! This product is the best way to get an amazing glow and improve the texture, size of pores, and firmness!
5. Protect
Most of my clients switch their moisturizers to clean first! It’s a great idea especially because they are applied all over the face and stay on for a long time. Your pores are absorbing everything all night long! My favorite is the Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream. It’s very thick and luxurious – kind of reminds me of a La Mer cream I could never afford! This cream is great for anyone with dry skin. You only need the tiniest bit to cover your full face.
